You know that moment when you’re pitching an idea and the client tries not to look confused.

If they’re polite, they won’t come out and just ask you what the fuck are you talking about? If they’re saving face, they won’t say they don’t understand. They’ll just wince a little.

That’s the moment when you can ask, ‘What can I clarify for you?’

It’s a simple, open question. It’s less threatening. Less demanding.

It deepens the conversation.
