Usability rarely leads to beauty.

Making something useful and functional is the shallowest of skills. It mechanizes thoughts and possibilities. Making something useful makes it culturally useless. It turns us into machines of labor, reproduction and consumption. It derides and diminishes our humanity.

Beauty isn’t just ornamentation for the sake of it. Gold toilets aren’t beautiful. Conspicuous consumption is vanity, not beauty.

Beauty is that aesthetic quality which elevates ordinary things into something more meaningful, something extraordinary. It’s what gives us something more than just a material, automated, machine-like existence.

Everything we build, everything we make can be beautiful.
