Social media? It’s still media.

And what most people and corporations don’t understand is that media runs on attention.

Attention goes to things that break convention. Attention goes to the new and the outrageous.

With everyone clamoring for attention, louder no longer works. Weirder, ruder, ballsier is what gets attention.

Donald Trump normalized crazy when he was president of the United States.

What was considered institutionally insane a few years ago is now normal.

To gain attention you have to be crazier still.
