Another day, another pen
My, my. I walk down the street, arm in arm with love, and there on the ground lies another pen.
Nothing fancy. Nothing gold. A plain, plastic Bic M10 Clic ballpoint pen. Not in black either. Top two-thirds of the barrel in lead gray. Button and clip too. Bottom third is clear so you can see the ink supply, and ribbed for better grip.
It’s brand new. It hasn’t been used. Not a scratch on it. (Not a word scratched out of it.)
I pick it up. I weigh it in my hand. It’s lighter than I remember.
It’s time to get back to writing.
