Every good story is about change

The object and subject of a story is change.

Regardless of medium or length or even message, every good story is about change. If it’s not about change, it’s an anecdote. And probably a boring one at that.

A story is a recipe for change, a prescription for the necessary courage to overcome the fear and uncertainty of transformation. By its nature, change is generally uncomfortable, unsettling and uncontrollable.

But change is necessary to keep life moving forward. Without a story you stop growing and die. Doesn’t matter if you’re a god, a sentient being or a transnational corporation.

Life is dynamic.
