There’s a crucial moment in every great novel or film or play.

That moment when the hero is struck by a powerful self-epiphany. For the first time in the drama, the hero is emotionally and psychologically stripped bare to reveal who they really are.

Who they thought they were? Gone. What they thought they believed? Adios. This shattering moment of self-discovery will either destroy the hero. Or make them stronger.

A tragedy is when the hero is destroyed by the self-revelation. When the hero is transformed into a better version of themselves?

That’s the ascendancy we all seek.
