“Tales from the Mall”
I know what you’re thinking.
I don’t have time to read books. I’m too busy to read books. Reading books is boring.
And you’re absolutely right. Standard books these days with standard plots told in standard ways are just a waste of dead trees. Complete and utter waste of your time.
You want something shiny and new. Something exciting. Something like Ewan Morrison’s “Tales from the Mall.”
This book is a fantastic admixture of short stories, notes, essays, digressions, missives, memoirs, shopping lists and jottings around the life and times of shopping malls. Contemporary ain’t the half of it. Think of it as a story mall.
Shopping malls have become our cathedrals, consumerism our religion. Morrison is not afraid to let everyone know it. Not afraid to look deeper into modern culture and what drives our collective narrative.
This catch cry novel is voiced in the second person narrative. A nice touch given the subject matter at hand. Ideas bump and slip against each other, catch onto each other and turn into something altogether new.
If you’re looking for a new take on the novel, step right up.
