Your brain is not a computer
Your brain is more like a garden, constantly growing and throwing off seeds.
It’s not a neat board of computer chips collecting and correlating information at the speed of light. It’s a garden that grows synaptic connections between billions of neurons. These connections allow neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin to flow through your brain.
Learning grows your brain and your consciousness by binding and strengthening new neural connections.
Less used connections are pruned and discarded by microglial cells while you sleep. Even a 20-minute nap clears away unused connections so new ones can grow.
You can determine how your garden grows by deciding what you think about, what connections you enhance and what connections you eliminate.
You can have a weed-filled decaying garden of despair and revenge fantasies.
Or you can have a garden overflowing with delight.
